I couldn’t be happier with buying the Traveler!!! I write everyday now!

Traveler is excellent

The only flaw in this system is that I don’t like the cloud services: Google, Dropbox, Onedrive, or Evernote. Freewrite’s Postbox is fine, and the saving to my email is good. But, saving to my (Apple) Cloud would have been superb. Never mind, I’ll get by.
It took me years to come to the Traveler—I’m as slow and considered as a sloth in my decision making: and an idiot because if I’d come to it earlier, I’d’ve done a hell of a lot more writing. Now I’m an old coot with too many cancers and multiple disabilities and spend too much time in the doctor’s office or in Chemo. Mind you, I'll do more writing during Chemo now because I have my Traveler!
Great product my friends. I’m legally blind and so the screen size doesn’t worry me. I used to edit all of the time I was writing and it slowed me down to just short of a stop. Now, I let my brain loose and WOW.

Fell in love!

I love my new Freewrite Traveler because it has doubled my word count from the start. I'm no longer scrolling through my text trying to tweak it before I've finished, I'm just writing what my inspiration gives me. My inner censor seems to be so fascinated by the wonderful e-ink display that it doesn't even know it's grumbling.
But the best thing is that I always have the Traveler with me, so I can write for 'only' half an hour, which means I can tell my story a lot faster.
I really wouldn't want to be without it and my only regret is that I didn't buy it much sooner!

I want them all!

I have the traveler and the Alpha. Both have their own purpose. I haven’t had any issues with either device. Once I become more stationary I’ll likely purchase the smart typewriter too!

What is Traveler?

If I already have Smart Typewriter, should I get Traveler?

Both Traveler and Smart Typewriter offer distraction-free writing, but cater to different needs: Traveler is ideal for on-the-go writing with its compact design, while Smart Typewriter provides a tactile, traditional typing experience perfect for more stationary settings. If you're looking for a small, lightweight device for writing on the go, Traveler is the answer.

What type of screen does Traveler have?

Traveler has an E Ink screen and console display with an adjustable 135-degree viewing angle. Developed by E Ink and used by devices such as the Amazon Kindle, this technology mimics how ink looks on actual paper. Since it doesn’t produce blue light like traditional LCD screens, the Freewrite’s E Ink display is easy on the eyes, reducing eye strain and screen fatigue. E Ink screens also consume much less power, contributing to Traveler’s long battery life.

Does Traveler’s screen have a frontlight?

The Traveler's screen does not have a frontlight. While the E Ink display is easy on the eyes and clear to read in sunlight, you'll need to have an external light source for nighttime use. If you need a lit display, check out Smart Typewriter.

What type of keyboard does Traveler have?

Traveler boasts a full-size custom scissor switch keyboard. Specifically chosen for its superb tactile response, Traveler’s keyboard is high speed, responsive, and silky smooth. Each key has over 2mm of travel, which sets it apart from the typical laptop or folio membrane keyboards.

Does Traveler have arrow keys?

Yes. Traveler has WASD arrow keys to move within your drafts.

Can I change the physical keycaps on Traveler?

No, Traveler has a custom scissor switch keyboard, so the keycaps cannot be changed. If you’re looking for a device that will allow you to change the keycaps, check out Smart Typewriter.

Can I move documents to my computer without the cloud?

Yes, absolutely. And you can use Traveler entirely offline, if you'd like! Just connect Traveler to your computer via the included USB-C cable, and your Freewrite will appear as a USB Mass Storage Device. You'll be able to move your drafts to your computer as you would with any other flash drive.
